Disaster Control Headquarters 雷速体育_中国足彩网¥在线直播 (March 31 (Thu.), 2011 14:00-14:40))
- Official from MEXT scheduled to visit on the afternoon of 4/4. Will mainly visit the Tohoku University Hospital.
- Fukushima Nuclear Plant
- Radiation levels pose no health risk.
- Student Support
- Safety Confirmation has been completed. In the second phase, we will ascertain their post-earthquake status. We will ask the departments to ascertain student deaths/injuries and whereabouts over the coming 2 to 3 days. We are confirming the current locations of the international students (domestic and abroad). We have received an offer to give government scholarships for just the month of March (one month) to privately financed international students. We are providing a list of names to MEXT.
- Printing of degrees completed. We have distributed them to the departments. The departments will distribute them, along with departmental materials, to graduates. Commendations that were to be conferred at the degree ceremony will be sent to students, or for staff members, conferred by the President.
- As in previous years, the University Cooperative will handle the finding of 1300 housing units for incoming students. As of now, 600-700 have been found, which is just half. The University Co-operative is still checking with the real estate agencies; another week is needed before details are known.
- Staff Attendance
- 26 staff members are having difficulties coming to work; 4 foreign employees have returned to their home countries.
- Staff (foreign employees) attendance varies greatly depending on the department. We will run a survey hereafter to determine what caused such large differences.
- Facilities
- Restoration of water is proceeding. The schedule for restoring gas is still unknown. Tomizawa (雷速体育_中国足彩网¥在线直播 Center for Electron Photon Science) uses propane, so gas is not a problem there. Water leakage is still a problem at Amamiya.
- Financial Affairs
- The Personnel Division has surveyed damage to staff housing. According to yesterday's report, 6 staff have lost their homes entirely, 8 had severe damage to their homes; 24 staff members desire housing. Of the 52 families residing in Nagamachi, some will move to apartments, while 45 families desire university housing. As there are 70 units of university housing currently empty, it is possible to fulfill this need. We should proceed quickly and hold hearings for the affected people.
- Other
- We will continue to maintain the emergency website for a little longer before reverting to the normal Tohoku University website; we will confirm the changeover timing after further consideration.
- The Japan Association of National Universities requires a consolidated position on second-stage support. Consult with Dr. Nemoto regarding representation.
- Just under 20 offers of support have been received from overseas. Our response to domestic and international inquiries has been delayed. Although it has not been discussed yet, we plan to draw up a report on this. →To be coordinated by Chairpersons Nemoto, Ijima and Kazui by tomorrow.
