Because of damage to our central power supply and servers caused by the earthquake, the student mail service (s.tohoku.ac.jp) provided by this center, is currently suspended. We are working to restore service, but cannot provide a specific date at present.
As a temporary measure, we will implement a forwarding service that allows you to have mail addressed to s.tohoku.ac.jp forwarded to another provider's mail address.
How to Apply

If you can come to the Tohoku University Kawauchi campus:
Bring your Student ID Card to the below office on any weekday be-tween 9:00 and 16:00.
Until April 19: Lecture Room A104 in the Lecture Building
From April 20 on: Kawauchi Kita (North) Campus Multimedia Education and 雷速体育_中国足彩网¥在线直播 Complex 5th Floor M507 Fundamental Technology Department
Information necessary to setting up the service will be provided there.

If you cannot come to the Tohoku University Kawauchi campus:
Please call, and tell us that you want to use this service. Office Hours: Weekdays, 09:00 16:00 (TEL: 022-795-7622)
Send us a copy of your Student ID Card and another form of ID, such as a driver's license, by FAX (022-795-7686) or E-mail (tech-staff@cite.tohoku.ac.jp).
(Your personal information will be disposed of securely after confir-mation.)
When inquiring by E-mail or FAX, please provide the following five pieces of information:
- Name
- Student ID Number

- The source e-mail address from which mail will be forwarded (if you have set an alias, please provide this as well. Please indicate whether you need forwarding for both your Student ID Number and your alias.)
- Destination E-mail address to which mail will be forwarded.
*If sending your information by FAX, please print in large, clear letters as blurring may occur. Please include phonetic spellings to prevent misreading of your mail address.
*If you have lost your Student ID Card and other identification due to the earthquake, please inquire.
Forwarding Service Disclaimers
- This service can only be used to receive mail.
- Handling of mail sent before this service was implemented will depend on the sender. If the sender was set to retry, the mail will be forwarded when it is resent. Otherwise, the mail will be returned to the sender with a "recipient unknown" error.
- The forwarding service is being run on a temporary server, which will be switched over to the main server once restoration work is completed. Forwarded mail will not be saved on the main server.
- If you do not apply for this service, any mail sent to your Tohoku University address will be returned with the message ”Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender”.
- If you specify a mobile phone address as your forwarding address, you may experience problems, such as being unable to retrieve your mail, or mail not displaying properly. If possible, please use a PC mail address as your forwarding address.
- Forwarded mail received from s.tohoku.ac.jp may be classified as spam by gmail.com. Because forwarding operations are being performed on a temporary server, not the main server, it appears that gmail recognizes it as illegal mail. Please check your spam folder, and mark any forwarded mail as "Not Spam". It may also appear that mail has not arrived due to mail client features that automatically consolidate E-mail messages. Please check these settings if you are unable to receive forwarded mail.
