A joint meeting of the International Symposium on Next Generation Engineering for Synchrotron Radiation Innovation and the 3rd International Summit on Synchrotron Radiation Innovation will be held on July 1.
A focus of the symposium will be the next generation synchrotron radiation facility that is currently being built on Tohoku University's Aobayama campus. Construction began last April and is expected to be completed in 2023.
This symposium will provide an update on the facility, and give leading scientists and experts the opportunity to share the latest developments in synchrotron radiation science and technology from around the world.
The event will be in English, and is open to anyone who is interested. Registration is required.
Date: July 1, 2021
Time: 10a.m. - 4:20 p.m. (JST)

The next generation synchrotron radiation facility on Aobayama Campus will feature a circular accelerator (3GeV electron energy) with a storage ring measuring some 350 meters in circumference, and the capability of producing soft X-rays up to 100 times brighter than any other facility of its kind in Japan.
When operational, the facility will be the centrepiece of a regional research complex that will comprise the R&D sites of major universities and companies from around the world. Tohoku University, with its strengths in research and innovation, is expected to play a big role.
