On September 25, Juan E. González, Vice Provost for Global Engagement at the University of Texas, Dallas (UT Dallas), paid a visit to Tohoku University. Vice Provost González and his accompanying delegation were cordially greeted by Masahiro Yamaguchi, Vice President of Tohoku University.
In the meeting with Vice President Yamaguchi, the two sides discussed opportunities for deepening student and faculty exchanges, focusing on collaborative research and personnel exchange programs in the semiconductor field.
Vice Provost González introduced the latest initiatives by the U.S. government to strengthen investment in the semiconductor sector, as well as UT Dallas's efforts to foster collaboration between industry and academia.
He also mentioned internship and work opportunities for international students at UT Dallas.
After exploring the similarities in programs offered by both universities, the two sides turned their attention to potential collaborations in the fields of animation and engineering. Additionally, they discussed opportunities for mutual exchange focused on cultural and educational experiences.
Following the meeting, the UT Dallas delegation went on a student volunteer-led tour of the Aobayama campus. Later, they met with faculty members from the Global Learning Center to share perspectives on student exchange programs and discuss the current challenges faced by international students.
With an academic exchange agreement between the two universities on the horizon, it is hoped that their relationship will deepen in both research and education.
