Tohoku University President Teiji Tominaga visited National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on November 22, 2024, where he met with NYCU President, Dr. Chi-Hung Lin. Accompanying President Tominaga were Executive Vice President Asako Sugimoto, Executive Vice President Hideo Harigae, Executive Vice President Tsuyoshi Tohyama, and Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi.

Tohoku University and NYCU have enjoyed a long track record of cooperation. Collaborative efforts have focused on semiconductors and biomedical engineering, efforts boosted by an International Joint Laboratory established by the two universities in August 2018.

President Tominaga and President Lin agreed to elevate their partnership. The two signed a revised university-level academic exchange agreement and renewed the memorandum of understanding for the International Joint Laboratory. The signing was witnessed by Fan-Guang Jan, the Deputy Minister at the National Development Council, as well as other esteemed guests.

The universities hope the visit serves as a springboard for deeper ties and further develops multilayered exchanges in education, research, and industry-university collaboration.
