On May 28, the president of Jeonbuk National University, O-Bong Yang, and his delegation visited Tohoku University, where they met with President Teiji Tominaga.
President Tominaga opened the meeting, which included Vice-President Tohiya Ueki and Vice-Dean Takeaki Iwamoto of the Graduate School of Science, thanking Jeonbuk University for its donation to Tohoku University after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. He also noted that Jeonbuk National University was the first in South Korea to sign a university-level academic exchange agreement with Tohoku University, and expressed his delight at the restarting of academic exchanges following the hiatus caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
President Yang thanked Tohoku University, mentioning the Tohoku University graduates who have contributed to Jeonbuk National University as faculty members. Likewise, he introduced the South Korean government's regional revitalization and university internationalization '30 Glocal Institutions Initiative' - for which Jeonbuk National University was selected. Reform dominated what turned out to be productive discussions.
After the meeting concluded, President Yang and his delegation visited the Institute of Fluid Science and the International 雷速体育_中国足彩网¥在线直播 Institute of Disaster Science. They participated in an additional meeting, exchanging information on international cooperation and deepening their understanding of Tohoku University.
Both sides hope that the visit will lead to increased student and academic exchange between the two universities in the future.
