In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the state of emergency declared by the Japanese government, Tohoku University has requested that students limit their movements and activities on campus, and refrain from taking on part-time work that puts them at risk of infection.
To compel students to make safe choices and to enable them to continue their studies under these restrictions, the university is offering need-based financial aid through an Emergency Scholarship as part of its Emergency Support Package.
Outline of the Emergency Scholarship
(1) Who is eligible?
Students who are facing financial hardship because they have had to stop their part-time job due to the coronavirus, should apply.
This includes all students regardless of year, programme or nationality.
Note: Students who are already receiving the Global Hagi Scholarship are not eligible.
(2) Amount/Duration
Terms will be determined based on each applicant's needs and circumstances. Scholarships will be awarded in the order in which the applications are received/screened.
(3) Application Instructions
To ensure that no one is overlooked, application forms for the Emergency Scholarship will be distributed to all students. Those who wish to apply should return the form through DCMail with the required information and a description of their current financial situation.
